Engraved rim bowl
Bespoke wedding bowl. An inscription of your choice is engraved into the rim of this bowl. I made the one in the photos as a gift for my cousin’s wedding. Theirs says ‘AmyJamesAmyJames’ repeated carefully so it’s seamless, like their union! This one is made from a beautiful piece of Blackbutt burl and has an Australian Red Cedar foot. The Blackbutt came from a salvaged log, and the red cedar was fished out of a skip at the Australian Museum. It was from an old broken table. Timber like that is too precious to waste!
This is an heirloom bowl. Something that can be cherished for years. It’s also sturdy enough to be used. It’s finished with vegetable oil, so it’s totally food-safe, and most people have some in the cupboard for when it needs a little spruce up.
