I was thinking about Egyptian culture. What’s more iconically Egyptian than a pyramid? I designed this bowl around a square pyramid, just like the Egyptians. It's a little more shallow than theirs for practical reasons, but the concept is clear. The bowl can be used either way up. Depends if you’re feeling outie or innie on the day, right? Both ways lift fruit into art! (or at least that’s the hope!)

This particular bowl I made for my Niece’s 21st birthday, so it is already gone. But I’m very happy to make another with the next piece of sustainably sourced one-of-a-kind timbers that comes my way from my artisanal sawmill supplier in Dundurrabin NSW. This one was made from a special piece of burl Black Butt (Eucalyptus pilularis). Why this stuff is used for fence posts I’m not sure? It’s magic. Beautiful, hard, stable, fantastic to work.
